Ordering and Comparing Fractions

shown in the pictures.  It was easy.  I knew that I had to count the pieces that were shaded.  That was the top number.  Then I had to count how many altogether.  That was the denominator.  For the last question I had to order the fraction from smallest to biggest.  It was medium.  It was a bit easy because I knew the first one would come first and he last one would come last but the middle ones were tricky.  I didn't know if one third or one half would go first.

I was learning that the bottom number tells us how many groups we need.  I thought this was medium because it was a little bit tricky and a little bit easy at the same time because you have to work out halves and that.  The extension challenge was easy for me to work out because I had already done the other ones so I knew the pattern.

Bike Skills

I was learning to do cool tricks on a bike at bike skills. these are the cool photos from bike skills.
Enjoy :)

Identifying Persuasive Techniques

I was learning to identify persuasive techniques.  For example looking at examples on the document. These are the techniques i had to identify: emotional appeal, expert opinion, testimonial, repetition, bandwagon and slogan. For example, Coke has a slogan - "taste the feeling".  The technique I find easiest to remember is repetition because its just repeating stuff.  The other ones are harder to remember because with the expert opinion, you might forget their opinion.  I think I did well with this one because it was a bit easy and a bit difficult at the same time.  My next step is to create something that uses these techniques.

Term 2 Week 2

Buddhist Temple

On Thursday the 11 of May I went on a school trip. I had to get to school really early. I answered the roll very quickly and I walked to the bus. The bus transported us to the temple. when we got to the temple it was raining. The people that worked at the temple had umbrella's for us. They took us inside the temple.  We looked at the Wishing Bell and the lady talked about the trees in the garden and the mondo grass.  If you stand on the mondo grass it automatically bounces back up.  Next we made some lotus flowers from paper pop-outs and stapled rubber bands to them so they could go around our wrists to be worn.  We went to the buddha statues outside and we poured water on them while we talked about the 3Gs.  The 3Gs are "Do good deeds", "Think good thoughts" and say good words".
Then we went into a special room where we watched a movie until the others had finished doing their outside Buddha washing.  Then the lady came along and said we are going to do some flying over the lotus flowers on the floor.  We went round to the next room and had a look at the 3Gs and 4Gs.  The 4 Gs are the things we give to other people - confidence, convenience, hope and joy. Finally we had morning tea which was good because I was starving.  We had chocolate brownie and yucky water.  After morning tea, we went into the hall and we saw some police officers and they taught us about the 3Gs/4Gs and values in the community.  Then we went back into the welcoming room and sat in our groups lines then turned around and headed to the door.  We got on the bus and went back to school and had lunch.

What do the Words Mean?

WALT work out the meaning of words from the context in sentences from the story Red Surfer Riding. It was a little bit hard because we didn't now the words. We just copied the spelling from the book and typed it into this document. Then we typed up what we thought it meant. Then we searched it up in a dictionary and entered the correct meaning in the boxes on this document. Thank you for learning with me. Thank you for commenting on my blog if you did and thank you viewing my blog.

Term 1 Week 2

My first two weeks at school were boring.

My class marked a 50 out on the field.  It was boring.  We did it because the school is turning 50 and we are going to take a big photo of us in the shape of a 50 with a drone.  Boring.

The Year 6s did a boring powhiri singing Maori words.  Boring.  We did it to welcome some new student teachers.

We have a new tick chart.  It is boring because when you get a tick you put it up and when you get 10 ticks you get a boring token.  The boring token goes in a house box outside on the step of the Auditorium.  At the end of the term, the house with the most tokens gets a boring fun day.

I am a wet day monitor in Room 28 and they are sort of a good class but I don't think they were very good on Tuesday 14th February because it was there first wet day. the class is boring because the walls are boring. boring. The boring old sports trolley is boring of coarse. all you do is hand out boring old sports equipment.  I have to do it every lunch time.  It is boring.

We also did writing this boring old post you are reading right now!

enjoy boring life.
